Message from the Principal
At Cork City Music College we take great pride in holding fast to our mission statement of ‘Music for Life’. Our core value of inclusiveness forms the basis of how we strive to transmit our love and passion for music to our students. As a result, every individual class is guided by the needs, ability and interests of the student, and we encourage our students to have a voice in the progression of their musical journey. All styles and genres of music can be heard played amongst the corridors of our schools on a busy afternoon!
Our music classes are taught by an incredible team of talented and experienced teachers, and we are privileged to have so many wonderful educators and musicians on our staff. We are driven by excellence and strive to provide the highest standard of music education across the board. All staff are highly qualified and Garda vetted ensuring that our students are welcomed into a warm and safe environment. We run music classes that are suitable for all ages and abilities. Our younger students, Senior Infants and first class in primary school, can partake in our popular Music Bug Club programme which we are immensely proud of, having invested years of expertise and training into the refining of the syllabus. Instrumental tuition is available to our older students and adults on a diverse range of instruments, both on an individual level and in small group classes where available.
We aim to provide our students with as many performance/ musical opportunities as possible in addition to their weekly lessons, and recommend involvement in one of our Ensemble groups and participation at the many concerts that are held throughout the year. We also run workshops in performance and creative music-making which students enjoy immensely. CCMC students have the opportunity to join one of our Music Theory classes free of charge. While not compulsory, students can partake in grade exams if they so wish and we cover all main examining boards as well as our more informal in-house CCMC Exams which take place once a year in June.
Cork City Music College, founded in 1987, has grown and developed over the years, always guided by the needs of our students. We currently operate out of our main administrative centre in Coláiste Éamann Rís and have over eleven Outreach Centres across Cork city and county. As a registered charity and not-for-profit organisation, we aim to keep our prices as favourable as possible and all surpluses are reinvested into the betterment of the school. If you cannot find the information you require on our website, please don’t hesitate to contact us by phone or email, we are always happy to speak with you and help you find the right class suitable for you or your child.
